Product Description

High-Performance Headphones from One of the Biggest Names in Music

"People aren’t hearing all the music. Artists and producers work hard in the studio perfecting their sound. But people can’t really hear it with normal headphones. Most headphones can’t handle the bass, the detail, the dynamics. Bottom line, the music doesn’t move you. With Beats, people are going to hear what the artists hear, and listen to the music the way they should: the way I do."- Dr. Dre

It’s All About Sound

Monster design in a professional-grade studio headphone
Three years of thorough research and development resulted in the most incredible headphone speaker ever built. Beats features highly advanced materials and construction to deliver a new level of audio accuracy and clarity. Combining extra-large speaker drivers and a high-power digital amplifier, Beats delivers an unprecedented combination of super deep bass, smooth undistorted highs, and crystal clear vocals never heard before from headphones.

Less Noise, More Music With Powered Isolation

Today’s digital audio recording technology gives music more detail than ever before. Unfortunately, the details get easily lost in today’s noisy world: on the street, on the bus, on the plane. The best listening experience isn’t just about what you hear, but what you don’t. Monster’s powered isolation technology actively cuts external noise, so you experience all the rich details your favorite artists want you to hear.

Extreme Comfort is Music to Your Ears

With Beats, you feel the music, not the headphones. Spacious earcups give you extra room for a higher level of listening comfort. Plush ear cushions covered with ultra-soft breathable materials keep you cool even when the music’s hot.

Ready for iPhone

Stay connected without missing a beat. Beats comes with an additional Monster iSoniTalk iPhone enable headphone cable with built-in answer button and microphone so you can easily stop rockin’ and start talkin’.

... if these headphones came in one color (black), Dr. Dre's celebrity endorsement removed, and the Beats logo erased, replaced with a "Sennheiser", "AKG", "Grado" or other "audiophile approved" brand, would the slamming of these cans be as harsh?

The only headphones I've ever owned that completely overperformed for the price are the Sony MDR-7506. Once you get into a $250+ price range, it's hard to justify the cost with what you THINK you should be getting/hearing in return.

I bought these with some trepidation based on the negative comments I've read, especially the alleged "muddy" bass--I thought I'd have a subwoofer on my head. What I actually hear is a bass level elevated precisely to provide a stunning backbone for the music I listen to (mostly metal, rock, classic pop) beyond any other headphone I've used. An equalizer is unnecessary using the Beats Studio--it's like they're EQed already.

Two songs I've listened to that just blew me away from a... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty darn good lads!, April 25, 2012
This review is from: Beats by Dr. Dre Studio Orange Over Ear Headphone from Monster (Old Version) (Electronics)
I researched headphones for 3 months before I made this purchase. I'm a fulltime student and a parent with four kids so when I must spend money on something this expensive I really do my research because these headphones got to last me awhile. That aside I had narrowed my choices to the Bose quiet comfort 15s, soul by ludcris the 300 model, sennheisers pxc 450 and the fanny Wang 2000 series. Now I could not try the fanny wangs because I do not believe they sell them in stores, if they do I couldn't find them in my area. The Bose had amazing sound canceling, but they felt so cheap my hands. They did not offer the bass I wanted. I listen to a wide variety of music, jazz, 60s-80s music, metal, Japanese pop, enka, rap, grime, and praise and worship music. The soul headphones felt so brittle and cheaply made, they did not offer clear sound or bass in my opinion. I'm not a audiophile, I'm a person who loves to listen to music so maybe others may see things different and that's fine. I... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Beats Studios are comparable to Bose but don't quite justify the price due to the plastic construction and durability issues..., May 30, 2012

The Beats by Dre Studios are priced right between the Solos and the Pros. While all three do a good job at blocking out ambient noise, the Studios are the only one that employs active noise-cancelling technology (2 AA batteries required). You don't have to be too concerned about battery life as the Studios will run for a long time without replacement. Both the Studios and Pros are over-the-ear headphones and tend to be more comfortable than the Solos, which are smaller and on-the-ear cans.

When choosing between the Solos, Studios, and Pros, the main factor should be price, style, and comfort as the sound quality of Beats in general is not quite on par with similarly price audiophile-grade or music-production headphones (e.g. Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, AKG). The Studios and Pros have a significantly better sound stage than the Solos, but are still somewhat overpriced compared to the competition.

The sound quality of the Studios is very comparable to the Bose... Read more
